A reputation for effectively responding to experiment requirements was established during the production of many products for the Photon Factory at KEK.

The possible application of synchrotron radiatin beam line technology to the development of new semiconductor devices and medical science has rec ieved considerable attention in recent years.Toyama has supplied a broad spectrum of systems and instruments to the Photon Factory at the Nationa l Laboratory for High Energy Physics(KEK)of the MONBUSHO,located in Tsuk uba. This facility is at the cutting edge of this exciting research. Toy ama effectively responds to the varying requirements of the different be am lines which perform a diverse range of experiments. In particular,one of Toyama's strengths is its ability to tackle comprehensive design and production of entire beam line systems,in addition to the supply of ind ividual devices and instruments. Each technical probrem is analyzed and overcome while working closely with researchers. The fact that Toyama p roducts are incorporated into virtually every beam line is proof of the high evaluation which the company has received for its dedication to exc ellence.

Multi-Axial SR Mirror Positioning System(BL-9,BL-16,etc.)
Multi-axial positioning of mirrors is performed in order to control the direction and/or focal point of the SR beam. Pictured above is the 6-axis type (X,Y,Z and rotary movement for each ax is). Many other such mirror positioning systems are also at work, ranging from 3 to 7 control axes.



X-Ray Bent-Mirror Positioning System(BL-3A)
Plane and cylindrical mirrors provided at intermediate points in the beam line are bent to change the axial direction of the SR beam,creating a cylindrical or toroidal surface. This enables this device to accumulate SR beams at the designated focal point.The system also has a mechanism which controls the direction of SR beams. The above device is a plane mirror type.



Soft X-RAY Grating Monochromator(BL-12)
This type of device extracts the quasi-monochromatic light which has the special wavelength that is required for some radiation beam experiments. The one pictured is a fixed-incident-angle type grating monochromator, used for the soft X-ray band.



Photo-CVD Experiment System(BL-17B)
One type of experimental instrument used at the end of the beam line,this system performs photo-CVD experiments using a range of wavelengths,from soft X-rays to vacuum ultraviolet rays.



Ellipsometer for Soft X-Ray Beam Line
This type of instrument is used to measure and evaluate the various characteristics of SR beams. The above unit measures polarization of soft X-ray beams.



Exit Slit(S2) System
Excessive beam light is eliminated in this system by limiting the size of the exit slit. The above unit is used to control the beam coming out of a monochromator.



Branch Beam Shutter(BBS)(BL-17C)
This is a safety device which shuts off SR beams by rapidly lowering a tantalum or copper block in order to absorb or stop SR beams(X-rays,ƒÁ-rays,etc.) in the event of an anormaly in the beam line.



BL-17B Beam Line
This toroidal mirror light concentration line is used to perform photo-CVD experiment using a range of wavelengths,from soft X-rays to vacuum ultraviolet rays.
